Preparing for September Starts Long Before September

When families think about a new school year, they often think about buying backpacks, labeling lunch boxes, and helping their child get ready for preschool or Pre-K.

At ScribbleTime, our preparation begins much earlier.

In May, our leadership team starts planning for the school year ahead. Together, we’ve been leading ScribbleTime for more than 11 years, and each year we take time to reflect on what we’ve learned, where we can grow, and how we can better support the children, families, and educators who walk through our doors.

That planning becomes our professional development plan.

Before children kick off the new school year with us in September, our entire team comes together for one and a half days of professional development and classroom preparation. We believe that great classrooms don’t happen by chance—they’re created by educators who continue to learn, collaborate, and grow together.

This year’s focus is on two areas that have a lasting impact on children.

The first is social-emotional development. Helping children recognize their feelings, build friendships, solve problems, and develop confidence creates the foundation for learning in every other area.

The second is the Massachusetts Preschool and Pre-K Learning Standards. These standards provide a roadmap for children’s development while giving our educators the creative freedom to design meaningful learning experiences based on the interests, strengths, and curiosity of the children in their classrooms.

No two groups of children are exactly alike, and we believe their learning shouldn’t be either.

Our educators spend time observing children, planning engaging activities, preparing inviting classroom environments, and creating experiences that encourage children to ask questions, explore new ideas, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

When teachers continue to learn, children benefit every single day.
